Bulk Liquids

Approximately 55% of Workington’s annual tonnage throughput consists of bulk liquid chemical and petroleum products. Workington has one of the best bulk liquid handling facilities in the North West through Simon Storage Cumbrian Terminal, operated by Simon Storage Group Ltd. The tanker berth can accommodate vessels of up to 10,000 DWAT.

The chemical products imported support the production process of major industrial customers in the area, with some finished products then being redistributed through the port. Petroleum volumes imported into Workington are then distributed throughout the region for use in agriculture, manufacturing industry and service stations.
