Cumberland Council is the Statutory Harbour Authority responsible for marine safety and conservancy at the Port of Workington. Cumberland Council is also the Competent Harbour Authority under the Workington (Pilotage) Harbour Revision Order 1988.
The Marine Section provides a variety of services including, pilotage, towage, boatmen, fresh water and ship’s waste disposal.
As part of its functions and responsibilities under the Port Marine Safety Code the Port maintains safety management systems and plans designed to prevent or minimise the impact of marine related incidents and ensure a safe and clean environment.
